R&B Songs I have Fallen in Love With This Week (30/03/24)

I've been listening to some really amazing R&B and Neo-Soul artists based in the UK. These two songs really move the listening and takes us on an emotional journey. Ayia Gold - Apple Trees Bea Anderson - Goodbye (Pt Two) Both tracks feature amazing vocals, really good instrumentals and relatable topics. Bea Anderson's Goodbye (Pt Two) really touched me as the song speaks about breaking the cycle of toxic love in her generation. Click here...

Ethereal Jazz: Waltz For Life Will Born by Uyama Hiroto

Uyama Hiroto and Nujabes are fantastic instrumentalists and do a great job incorporating different instruments, melodies and genres to create music. The saxophone (or clarinet) is the stand out instrument in Uyama Hiroto's 'Waltz For Life Will Born', and theres something really enticing hearing the saxophone play jazz notes whilst in the chaotic background, the hi-hats brighten and give life to the track! Released in 2008, this track can be...

Soaring Like A Bird: Windspeaks By Uyama Hiroto

If there was ever a song that felt like you grew wings like a bird, and soared throughout the sky, this would be the song! Released in 2007 by Japanese Instrumentalist/Producer Uyama Hiroto, this track blends Japanese HipHop and Jazz. The Jazz drumming on this track uplifts the track and alongside the flute, the saxophone and piano repeat a melody that invokes the feeling of freedom, inspiration and love. Kenichiro Nishihara: Lo-Fi That Speaks To The Heart

During the pandemic, Lo-Fi was listened to more than ever thanks to YouTube live videos making hours worth of content. Lo-Fi is relatively simple to make and compromises of genres like jazz, hiphop, soul and chill-out music. In the midst of listening to Lo-Fi during the pandemic, I stumbled across music from an artist called Kenichiro Nishihara. The first song I listed to by him was 'my leaving' and I instantly liked the instrumental but, also...

Exploring The Timeless Soundtrack of Samurai Champloo (2004)

Over the holiday period, I treated myself to Samurai Champloo (anime) hoodies since I love the show so much. Samurai Champloo is in my opinion, one the best anime out there, released in 2004. The show delves into the journey of Jin, Mugen and Fuu who go on a journey to find Fuu's father. Not only do I love the characters and storyline of the show but, also the music as well. The soundtrack and the original songs from the anime standout from the...

Listen To: R&B Yearbook 2009!

The year was 2009, Beyoncé dropped Single Ladies and nothing was the same since! Seriously, 2009 was the year that I properly got into music and many legendary events occurred that year. For example, Lady Gaga released Just Dance, Poker Face and Love Games, songs that I believe very much changed my brain chemistry. That year had some great R&B songs from artists like Mario, Jordan Sparks, Jamie Foxx, Jay Sean and more. 2009 was a year when...
