Kenichiro Nishihara: Lo-Fi That Speaks To The Heart

Kenichiro Nishihara

During the pandemic, Lo-Fi was listened to more than ever thanks to YouTube live videos making hours worth of content. Lo-Fi is relatively simple to make and compromises of genres like jazz, hiphop, soul and chill-out music. In the midst of listening to Lo-Fi during the pandemic, I stumbled across music from an artist called Kenichiro Nishihara. The first song I listed to by him was ‘my leaving’ and I instantly liked the instrumental but, also the almost whispery tone of the singer on the track. It’s a song to definitely listen to when chilling out and relaxing the mind.

Delving more into his music, I also enjoy his more motivation tracks with catchy melodies like ‘Power of Self’ and ‘Heart’ (both songs feature rapper, Substantial). His single ‘All these years’, is also a highlight in his discography feat. Shing02. This songs features a rough hip-hop track that is more upbeat than his other tracks. Kenichiro really does a good job incorporating different genres in a unique way, whether in instrumentals or songs with rappers/singers. The lyrics of his songs usually revolve around the topics of unrequinted love, vulnerability and being self-motivated.
